Welcome to my blog

Thanks for stopping by!

As a child and teenager, I inhaled books. However, since finishing university and deciding to pursue a career as a chartered accountant, all I've really had time for is studying and reading for professional development. Now that I've settled into life as a 'young professional', I've decided to rekindle my love for novels that has been absent for far too long.

Something that I was able to develop during the past few years was an appreciation for wine and tea. Since I rather enjoy drinking wine or tea while I read, I thought it would be a neat idea to set up blog where I comment on a book I've read recently (usually in the past month) as well as a new wine or tea I've tried. From time to time, I'll also include musings on food or recipes, but the focus of This Week's Pairings will be my opinion on a novel, paired with comments on a wine or tea.

According to Goodreads, it appears that my current genre of choice is contemporary. But for a better idea, here are the books on my nightstand (i.e. 'to be read') right now:

Having said that, my all time favourite author is Anne Rice - particularly for her earlier work, and I certainly enjoy the 'guilty pleasure' of reading chick lit and young adult (I may have lamented the quality of writing in the Twilight and Sookie Stackhouse novels while reading them, but that sure didn't stop me from continuing to read all the books in the series!). I'm always curious to read novels that have a lot of buzz surrounding them, and I still have more 'classics' on my list than I'd like to admit.

So now that you know a little about me, I hope you stick around for my weekly updates. I'd love to hear your comments on the books/wine/tea/food I've picked!

  1. Can't wait till you really get this blog started. I just turned 21 this month so I'm really looking for advice for wine's and such :) And I'm always looking for a good book.

  2. Thanks Lacey! I'm still trying to figure out the technical aspects of blogging - there are lots of things I want to change and add, which will hopefully happen sooner rather than later :)
